EAEU launches pilot project on electronic international transport consignment notes use The deputy heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries launched a pilot project on the use of electronic international transport consignment notes e-CMR in international road cargo transport in the EAEU countries at a meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on Friday, the EEC press service reported."The main goal of the pilot project is to ensure the practical development of the technology of cross-border exchange of legally significant electronic documents between entities of different countries using digital signature and trusted third party mechanisms. The implementation of the pilot project will help speed up the processes of obtaining and verifying transport documents, as well as reduce the costs of implementing transport, logistics, control and supervisory procedures," the report says."The results of the pilot project will be used in the implementation of one of the services of the EAEU ecosystem of digital transport corridors, as well as in the activities to transition to the use of electronic documents, which must be included in the navigation seal," Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC commented.The EEC noted that the use of e-CMR will reduce time costs for carriers. "For example, when using electronic documents, no more than 1 minute is needed, compared to more than 20 minutes when working with a paper consignment note. In addition, according to international experts, the cost of using the e-CMR is 1.6 euros against 6.23 euros for a paper consignment note," it said. (ICE ALMATY)
