Kazakhstan's National Bank to sell $800-900 million from National Fund in DecemberThe National Bank of Kazakhstan announced plans to sell between $800 million and $900 million from the National Fund in December 2024 to meet government budget transfer requirements."Based on preliminary government requests for transfers to the government budget, the National Bank expects to sell between $800 million and $900 million from the National Fund in December 2024," the statement, published on the bank’s website, stated.In November, the National Bank sold $1.26 billion from the National Fund to facilitate budget transfers."Sales from the National Fund accounted for 23% of total trading volume, with daily sales capped at $60 million. The National Bank maintains market neutrality by conducting regular and evenly distributed foreign currency sales," the statement clarified.On November 28, the National Bank confirmed it had resumed currency interventions following a sharp decline in the value of the tenge against the US dollar. The bank last conducted such interventions during February and March 2022. (ICE ALMATY)
