Explored gold reserves in Kazakhstan greater than production – minister of industry The ratio of the proved reserves of Kazakhstan’s gold deposits to the country’s gold production is currently at 1.2; depletion of copper reserves is expected to begin after 40 years, said Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev."The gold replenishment ratio is 1.2, which means that the volume of explored gold reserves is greater than gold production. For copper, the ratio is at 0.7. Given the current rate of production, the explored copper reserves on the government’s books will suffice for over 40 years," Sharlapayev said at a Tuesday meeting of the government meeting. The mineral resource companies are now carrying out exploration projects at prospective copper deposits, the minister added.
