Rare earth metals have been discovered in Karaganda region– Kazakhstan’s geologists have discovered almost 800,000 tonnes of rare earth metals at the Kuirektykol deposit, the Karkaraly district of the Karaganda region, Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev said."We have received data on the prospects of the Kuirektykol deposit, the reserves of which are estimated at about 800,000 tonnes, and the projected resources stand at 935,400 tonnes of rare earth metals, including cerium and lanthanides," Sharlapayev said at a Tuesday meeting of the government.Exploration projects are still underway at another 12 sites, he added.In order to attract investment to the mining industry and to increase the development potential of the rare earth metals industry, the Ministry of Industry and Construction is now declassifying the information on the booked reserves, except for osmium and rhenium."This work will have been completed by the end of this year," the minister said.
