Kazakhstan cracks down on Ponzi schemes, shutting down nearly 300 online groups in 2024In 2024, Kazakhstan's Financial Monitoring Agency concluded investigations into 68 criminal cases involving Ponzi schemes, with losses exceeding 20 billion tenge."Since the start of the year, the agency has wrapped up 68 investigations into the creation and operation of Ponzi schemes, resulting in damages of over 20 billion tenge," the agency said in a statement on Monday.So far, more than 13 billion tenge has been recovered.The FMA also uncovered 47 Ponzi schemes operating online. "Nearly 300 social media groups have been identified and shut down, with about 2 million members—potential investors," the report added.In total, over 11,700 links to Ponzi scheme-related websites have been blocked after a detailed analysis of social networks.
