INDONESIA TO OPEN EU DESK TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION

Indonesia's Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani has said that his ministry will open a European Union (EU) desk to improve cooperation between Indonesia and the region. He informed that the decision is the outcome of a meeting with members of the European Business Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) Indonesia, which took place at the ministry's office in Jakarta on Monday, December 11, 2024.Europe is Indonesia's fifth-largest source of foreign direct investment. The Netherlands, France, and Germany are countries with the highest investment. The country members of the EU region invested about USD18.7 billion (Rp296.3 trillion, exchange rate = Rp15,845, as of Monday) between 2019 and the third quarter of 2024. Roeslani said that Indonesia remains attractive for European investors because of its large economic and market potential.Meanwhile, European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam Denis Chaibi said that as a strategic partner, his party is committed to working with Indonesia to strengthen trade relations and address global challenges.Through the key initiatives as well as increasing trade and investment relations, the European Union is honored to be able to support Indonesia in creating transformative investments that will shape a greener and more inclusive future, he added.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/337504/indonesia-to-open-eu-desk-to-strengthen-cooperation (ICE GIACARTA)
