Wind power plant $178 mln worth to be built in Aktobe region by end of 2025.A $178 million wind power plant (WPP) with a capacity of 150 MW is to be commissioned in the city of Khromtau in Aktobe region by the end of 2025, according to a joint press release by National Managment Holding Baiterek and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan."The commissioning of an ambitious project, a wind power plant (WPP) with a capacity of 150 MW is beginning in the city of Khromtau of Aktobe region. The construction of a wind power plant in Khromtau is part of the national strategy to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy balance," the report says.According to the press release, the funds will be provided by Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant JSC (part of the ERG Group) and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC."As part of the project implementation, the bank is expected to finance construction and installation, purchase of equipment, commissioning and start-up (EPC contract, technical supervision, testing, etc.) at market conditions in foreign currency. The first flow of green electricity from two wind turbines will be fed into the grid at the end of December 2024," the press release said.Established in 2001, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan provides loans for medium- and long-term investment projects in production infrastructure and non-resource sectors of the economy, and helps attract foreign and domestic investment to the country's economy.
