THE fifth round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-5) for bidding renewable energy (RE) capacity from offshore wind projects (OSW) will be held in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced on Thursday. The GEA-5 aims to secure market access and long-term demand for the power generation capacities of OSW developers; serves as a timeline guide for related stakeholders; and advance the Philippines' energy transition objectives. "As a cornerstone of the Philippine Energy Plan 2023-2050, GEA-5 exemplifies the government's unwavering commitment to renewable energy deployment, energy security and the nation's energy transition agenda.
