QIDDIYA STARTS WORLD CUP STADIUM CONSTRUCTION WORK

Saudi Arabia's Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) has started construction works on the Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya City. German foundation works firm Bauer has started the piling works on the lower plateau area of the project. The stadium's construction is divided into two packages based on the project site's geographical terrain. The foundation works for the upper and lower plateau areas will be undertaken separately. The stadium's main construction works will be jointly undertaken by the Spanish firm FCC Construction and local firm Nesma & Partners. In October,  QIC had awarded a deal to build Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium on the outskirts of Riyadh. A joint venture of FCC Construction and Nesma & Partners won the contract, which covers the construction of a multipurpose stadium on top of the 200-metre-high Tuwaiq cliff in the new sports and entertainment district of Qiddiya City. QIC officially announced Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium in January. It will have the capacity to accommodate 45,000 spectators and will feature a fully combined retractable pitch, roof and LED wall. The stadium is one of the venues for the 2034 Fifa World Cup and will host events including the Saudi King Cup, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup and the 2034 Asian Games. Once completed, the stadium will be the home ground for Saudi Pro League football clubs Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. Work on the Qiddiya sports complex also includes the construction of an e-games arena, a multi-sports hub, two golf courses, training facilities and an aquatic centre. US-based architect Populous is the project consultant. The stadium is expected to be ready by the end of 2026, in time for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia was officially selected to host the 2034 Fifa World Cup through an online convention of Fifa member associations at the Fifa congress on 11 December.       For registration as a supplier: https://projectsuppliers.net/en/approvals/qiddiya   (ICE RIYADH)
