SMART PORT PROJECT.. SIRTE FREE CITY CONSIDERS ENHANCING INFRASTRUCTURE WITH Huawei Technologies

In an important step towards enhancing the capabilities of the Sirte Free Zone and transforming it into an advanced logistics center, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sirte Free Zone, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Farjani, held a meeting with the management of the Chinese company Huawei in Libya.The meeting was dedicated to discussing cooperation in the “Smart Port” project, which is part of a comprehensive plan to transform the region into a modern logistics center that supports all vital sectors.The Director of the International Cooperation Office in the Sirte Free Zone, Faraj Al-Jarah, explained that the meeting focused on developing the smart infrastructure in the region, and benefiting from the technical solutions provided by Huawei to improve logistics operations.Smart PortDuring the meeting, details of the “Smart Port” project were presented, which aims to improve the efficiency of commercial operations at Sirte Commercial Port. The modern technologies in the project aim to enhance the port’s ability to interact with regional and international markets more effectively, which enhances Sirte's position as a strategic commercial center.Al-Jarrah said that the application of smart city technologies in some urban areas in Libya, especially in Sirte, was discussed. The discussion also included smart transportation technologies that aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve movement within the city, in addition to applying smart building technologies in educational institutions to ensure a sustainable educational environment.For its part, Huawei reviewed some of its successful global experiences in the field of developing ports and smart cities, expressing its readiness to participate in the “Reconstruction Train” project in Sirte, in addition to its participation in other development projects in southwestern Libya.
