CROATIA: EXPORTS UP 3.6% AND IMPORTS UP 4.9% IN FIRST 10 MONTHS OF 2024
According to the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) preliminary data released on 9 December, Croatian goods exports in the first ten months of 2024 increased by 3.6% to EUR 19.7 billion, while imports rose by 4.9% to EUR 35 billion, resulting in a foreign trade deficit of EUR 15.4 billion and export coverage of imports at 56.1%, down from 56.8% last year, Croatian media report. Exports to European Union (EU) member states grew marginally by 0.2%, while exports to non-EU countries rose by 11%, with a simultaneous decline in imports from non-EU countries by 4.2%.The DZS data showed that the value of Croatian goods exports in the first ten months of this year amounted to EUR 19.7 billion, which is 3.6% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, imports increased by 4.9%, reaching EUR 35 billion.The foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR 15.4 billion, with export coverage of imports at 56.1%. In the first ten months of last year, the coverage stood at 56.8%.Exports to EU member states in the first ten months of this year reached a value of EUR 12.98 billion, which is 0.2% more than in the same period last year. The value of imported goods from EU member states increased by 7.7%, amounting to EUR 27.4 billion.The DZS data also show that exports to non-EU countries grew by 11%, amounting to EUR 6.7 billion, while goods imports from these countries fell by 4.2%, to EUR 7.6 billion.The DZS also released revised data on the trade of goods for the first nine months of this year, which showed that exports increased by 3.5% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching EUR 17.5 billion, while imports rose by 4.9% to EUR 31.4 billion. According to the revised data, the foreign trade deficit in the first nine months of this year amounted to EUR 13.9 billion, with export coverage of imports at 55.6%. (ICE ZAGABRIA)
