EAEU countries unify requirements for vehicle dimensions, axle loadsRepresentatives of the governments of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries have signed an agreement on permissible weights, axle loads and dimensions of vehicles when travelling on EAEU roads included in the Eurasian transport corridors.As noted in the message of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the agreement eliminates the discrepancy in requirements for weight and dimensions of vehicles in the countries of the Union."By increasing the minimum permissible values and establishing general requirements, we have aligned national weight and dimension standards for freight vehicles. As a result, the hauler will not need to obtain an additional special permit, which was previously required in the event of lower weight and dimensional parameters in one of the member states," Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister of Energy and Infrastructure is quoted as saying in the press release. In June this year it was reported that the EAEU countries were planning to develop a universal approach to road transport parameters in 2024. At that time, the countries had completed internal approvals and the agreement was expected to be signed in the third quarter of this year.
