KAZAKHSTAN-OIL-PRODUCTION-FORECAST
Kazakhstan revises down 2024 oil production forecast againKazakhstan is expected to produce 87.8 million tonnes of oil in 2024, down from the previously forecast 88.4 million tonnes, Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev announced."Oil output is expected to total 87.8 million tonnes in the current year," Satkaliyev said during a government meeting on Tuesday in Astana.Earlier, the minister had reported that production was forecasted to decline from 90.3 million to 88.4 million tonnes.Satkaliyev attributed the drop to major maintenance work at the country’s large oil fields."At Tengiz, maintenance lasting a total of 50 days was carried out in May and August as part of preparations for the planned launch of the Future Growth Project. At Kashagan, repairs to replace the slug catcher resulted in a complete 21-day shutdown. Production was further affected by unplanned shutdowns at the Karachaganak field, gas intake restrictions at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, scheduled preventive maintenance on the CPC pipeline, and repair work at Tengiz's second-generation plant following an internal steam leak into the process flow that began on October 26," he explained.
