Biodiversity concept being developed in KazakhstanKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed the Ministry of Ecology to submit a biodiversity conservation concept to the government in August 2025."The Biodiversity Conservation Concept developed by the Ministry of Ecology should become a key document in the work to conserve rare and endangered animal species. That is why I am instructing the ministry, together with all interested government agencies and the scientific community, to work out in detail all the measures envisaged in it and to submit the document to the government in August 2025," Bektenov said at a government meeting in Astana on Tuesday. He also ordered that the Tabigat natural resources platform be put into industrial operation from the beginning of 2025.According to Prime Minister, the effective conservation of rare and endangered species requires an integrated approach that includes monitoring, protection and assessment of threats to ecosystems and animal species."The key factor in the effective implementation of tasks for the protection of flora and fauna is the introduction of new technologies and information systems at all stages. For example, the Tabigat interactive map of natural resources contains the necessary information on the current state of the environment, forest and water resources, wildlife and fisheries. This open-access system will allow any citizen to instantly record environmental and other natural violations and report them to the relevant authorities for action. The system is currently in test mode (...)," Bektenov said. (ICE ALMATY)
