Kazakh parliament ratifies agreement on free trade between Eurasian Economic Union and IranThe Senate, the upper chamber of Kazakhstan’s parliament, adopted on Thursday the Law on the Ratification of the Free Trade Agreement Between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, on the one hand, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the other hand, an Interfax-Kazakhstan correspondent said.The Agreement was concluded in St. Petersburg on December 25, 2023."The goal of the Law is to expand trade and economic cooperation between the parties. Today, our countries apply a preferential trade regime only to a limited number of goods," said Bauyrzhan Kaniyev, a member of the Senate’s Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship.Under the Agreement, Iran will apply zero duties to most of traded goods and will not impose any restrictions on trade operations, Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev said earlier.The agreement is also aimed to create favorable conditions for promoting goods in the partner market and attracting investment to the states participating in the Eurasian Economic Union.The document is now sent to the president of Kazakhstan for signature.
