CJ ENM GEARS UP FOR US EXPANSION VIA PRIME VIDEO
CJ ENM is set to make aggressive inroads into the United States by releasing more than 150 premium content for Amazon Prime Video subscribers there, the Korean entertainment giant said Sunday. Starting Nov. 25, selected Korean content became available in the world’s largest economy through “CJ ENM Selects,” an add-on subscription service featuring a curated collection of Korea’s hit dramas, films and variety shows, the CJ affiliate said. All the titles will also be fully subtitled in English. They include popular series, such as "The Auditors," "LTNS" as well as international award-winning dramas such as "Monstrous" and "Work Later, Drink Now." CJ ENM expects its romance variety shows, such as "EXchange" and "Love Catcher," to attract the attention of U.S. viewers. "EXchange" is a particularly popular Korean dating reality TV show with its unique concept, inviting four pairs of former couples to live together, with some looking to move on with new love and some wanting to win their ex back. The title already captivated Prime Video audiences with its Japanese adaptation. "Monstrous" and "Work Later, Drink Now," showcased at the 2022 Cannes International Series Festival, or the Canneseries, are expected to captivate global viewers, including those in the U.S., as their compelling storytelling has already earned praise in Korea, according to CJ ENM. The company aims to widen its global influence by making more Korean content available to fans abroad. CJ ENM has been expanding its global reach since 2021 by introducing its flagship content on major platforms, such as Samsung TV Plus and Apple TV, seeking deeper inroads into North America. The entertainment firm expressed hopes to achieve more global success by delivering Korea’s competitive content and intellectual properties to a diverse pool of viewers so it can solidify its position as one of the nation’s most influential entertainment firms. “With CJ ENM Selects now available as an add-on subscription on Prime Video in the U.S., we are thrilled to see our content reach an even wider global audience," Seo Jang-ho, executive vice president at CJ ENM’s content business division, said. “This allows us to bring our high-quality Korean dramas, films and variety shows to Prime Video customers, further tightening our position as a leader in global entertainment," Seo added. "As demand for Korean content continues to grow, we are excited to be at the forefront of this cultural movement, helping our content become an integral part of mainstream global entertainment.” (ICE SEOUL)
