RIVERFRONT REHABILITATION IN MOSUL'S OLD CITY

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani today inaugurated the riverfront rehabilitation project in the historic old city of western Mosul on Sunday.The initiative marks a vital step in rebuilding the region and erasing the impact of terrorism while serving the residents of Nineveh Province. The visit also coincides with the seventh anniversary of Iraq's victory over ISIS.The Prime Minister emphasized that the riverfront in Mosul's old city stands as a historical and cultural landmark, home to archaeological, heritage, and religious sites.The project, designed by a Spanish firm in cooperation with UNESCO, integrates heritage standards to honor the area's rich history. Situated along the western bank of the Tigris River, the riverfront lies opposite the Assyrian archaeological site in Nineveh, blending modern and traditional designs.Key Features of the Project:Establishment of complete infrastructure.Construction of 273 heritage-style houses based on UNESCO's vision.Development of a riverfront and corniche harmonizing historical and contemporary elements.Revival of cultural and social life, with roots dating back to the sixth century AD.Highlights of the Prime Minister's Remarks:The project symbolizes Mosul's resilience and serves as a major tourist attraction.It aims to stimulate economic growth, create job opportunities, and revitalize Mosul's heritage.The government is committed to a clear developmental methodology, addressing the legacy of terrorism while ensuring inclusivity for all communities, including Yazidis and Christians.Nineveh's diversity and cultural harmony are central to its safety and progress.
