INDONESIA TO BUILD IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ON 2 MILLION HECTARES ACROSS THE NATION
The government has budgeted IDR 12 trillion for the development and revitalization of agricultural irrigation network infrastructure, as an effort to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector so that food sovereignty can be realized."The President approved tertiary, primary, and secondary irrigation for 2 million hectares with the Ministry of Public Works, with a budget of IDR 12 trillion (around € 717 million) for all of Indonesia," said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday (02/01/2025).The Minister of Agriculture said that it aims to support the acceleration of President Prabowo Subianto's strategic policy in the food self-sufficiency program which was accelerated from 2028 to 2027.Previously, the Minister of Agriculture collaborated with the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army (Wakasad) Lt. Gen.
