Ministry of Public Works and Housing completed 186 projects during 2024, within its roads, buildings and governorates departments at a value of JD 311.7 million.In a statement to "Petra" Saturday, the ministry's media spokesperson, Omar Maharmeh, said 145 projects are under construction at a value of JD 360.8 million, while a total of 343 projects are listed in the current year's budget at a value of JD 165.8 million.Maharmeh noted the Roads Department completed 42 projects last year worth JD167.5 million, while a total of 35 enterprises are under construction worth JD56.3 million, noting that the ministry listed 17 projects worth JD19.8 million for the year 2025.Regarding the projects completed in the Buildings Department last year, Maharmeh said the ministry completed 57 projects worth JD130.5 million, while a total of 41 projects are under construction worth JD294.8 million and 69 others are listed this year worth JD125 million.Also last year, 87 projects were completed in the Governorates Department worth JD13.7 million, while 69 others are under construction worth JD9.8 million and 257 enterprises were listed for the current year worth JD20.9 million in 14 regions countrywide, he pointed out.Regarding the National Building Council's project inspection committees during the past year, he stated its teams visited 706 projects, and enterprises that were rectified out of the total list that was suspended stood at 340, or 69.67%.The number of violations related to public safety and cancellation of shear walls decreased, and a total of 26 complaints about residential buildings were submitted, he added.As for the projects completed, under implementation and study by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation, he said the corporation offered 433 plots of land for use, maintained 44 apartments and built 10 kiosks.Meanwhile, he indicated that the projects under implementation will use 288 plots of land, maintain 10 apartments and build 7 warehouses, while others under study will be carried out on 677 plots.A total of 94 tenders worth JD226.948 million were referred by the Government Tenders Department last year in all fields, including bids under purchase procedures, which were all announced in local newspapers, and their values were not deposited yet, he announced.
