ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES INAUGURATES NEW TERMINAL IN BALE ROBE

Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated apassenger terminal at Wako Gutu Airport in Bale Robe. The project, completed at a cost of Birr 1.1 billion, was officially opened today in a ceremony attended by Oromia Chief Administrator Shimelis Abdisa, federal and regional government officials, and local community leaders.Speaking at the event, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew highlighted the airline’s efforts to enhance domestic connectivity alongside its international operations. “Our infrastructure investments are pivotal to boosting tourism and investment across Ethiopia,” he said, emphasizing the importance of modernized air transport in regional cities.The new terminal is expected to improve service delivery and connectivity, particularly benefiting tourism to attractions like the Bale Mountains National Park and Sof Omar Cave. Ethiopian Airlines currently operates 14 weekly flights from Addis Ababa to Bale Robe, with the new terminal poised to handle increased passenger volumes.Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines is advancing the construction of airports in six locations, including Negele Borena and Gore Metu, as part of its broader strategy to modernize domestic air transport. The airline serves 22 domestic destinations, reinforcing its role in supporting Ethiopia’s economic growth and regional integration. (ICE ADDIS ABEBA)
