SAUDI ARABIA, ITALY INK ENERGY COOPERATION PACT

Saudi Arabia and Italy signed today, Jan. 14, an agreement to boost energy cooperation, including the possible supply of Saudi-made hydrogen to Europe, Reuters reported, citing Italy's Energy and Environment Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin. The five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked in Riyadh during Pichetto’s visit to the Kingdom, during which he met his Saudi counterpart Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud. The deal focuses on renewable energy, reducing methane emissions, power interconnections, renewable and low-emission hydrogen and ammonia, and carbon capture and storage systems. The Italian minister said his country could act as an entry point into Europe for renewable hydrogen and ammonia produced in Saudi Arabia. (ICE RIYADH)
