Chinese Yesil Technology to invest $12 million in industrial drone production in KazakhstanYesil Technology Company, a subsidiary of China's Shaanxi Kaizhuo Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., is planning to establish a facility for industrial drone production in Kazakhstan, according to Interfax-Kazakhstan.The first phase of the project involves an investment of $12 million. Construction of a 50,000-square-meter production and research zone is set to begin in March 2025 in Astana. Supported by the national company Kazakh Invest, the facility will include a battery production workshop, an innovative technology research center, a full-cycle machinery storage area, and a drone testing ground."Initially, production capacity will be 300 drones per month, with plans to scale up based on market demand," said Chu Qi, General Director of Yesil Technology. During the construction phase, the company will assemble drones to meet immediate market needs.Chu also emphasized the company’s goal to fully localize production in Kazakhstan, including sourcing raw materials domestically, as the country currently lacks an ecosystem for drone manufacturing. "Kazakhstan’s vast territory and relatively small population of 20 million make it a promising market for drone applications," he added.Saken Kanibekov, Acting Chairman of the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex at the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighted the successful use of drones on 2,000 hectares of farmland in 2024. "The ministry purchased 46 drones in 2024 and plans to expand their use for monitoring in 2025," he said.In addition, Kazakhstan Engineering, a state-owned holding company, is exploring a potential partnership with Yesil Technology Company to establish a drone manufacturing plant in the country."We are actively seeking investors and partners and have received many proposals for international collaboration. Yesil Technology has shown strong interest and is ready to make significant financial investments in Kazakhstan’s economy. We are open to working with them as partners. As manufacturers, we are considering the idea of building a drone production facility, and today we are holding our second round of negotiations," said Arthur Mosendz, head of the Investment and Technology Transfer Department, in an interview with Interfax-Kazakhstan.Kazakhstan Engineering is a state-owned holding company that oversees machine-building enterprises supporting the country’s defense sector.
