PHARMA LOBBY SEEKS 2-YEAR EXTENSION OF SCHEDULE M DEADLINE

Small and medium drug makers have once again urged the health ministry for a “condition-free" timeframe of two to three years for implementing Schedule M. Not just extension, these drug makers have also asked the government to extend hand-holding in the form of financial and technical support to improve quality standards. This comes as the government is nearing finalisation of a draft notification proposing to extend the compliance deadline for the revised Schedule M. This is to allow manufacturers time to make necessary upgrades. The government is currently considering a draft notification suggesting an extension until December 31, 2025, for smaller manufacturers. However, the government has considered extending the timeline to two years. The regulation will come into force from 1 January 2027. (ICE NEW DELHI)
