Kazakhstan's economy grew by 4.8% in 2024Kazakhstan's GDP rose by 4.8% in 2024, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said."Last year [2024], Kazakhstan's economy expanded by 4.8%, with the highest growth in agriculture, construction, trade and transport," Bektenov said at the government’s extended meeting, which was attended by the president of the country.Shortly after his appointment in February 2024 as the prime minister, Bektenov ordered the economic block of the Cabinet to achieve an economic growth of at least 6% by the end of this year.The previous minister of national economy, Nurlan Baibazarov, who was dismissed from his post at the end of 2024, assured the prime minister that the 6% economic growth was quite an achievable goal.In January-November 2024, Kazakhstan's GDP increased by 4.4%. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the economic growth of 4% was too slow for the republic."I am convinced that the economic growth of 4% is too slow for Kazakhstan. That is what I usually tell foreign representatives as well," Tokayev said in an interview with newspaper "Ana Tili"."The government will have to find drivers for a higher economic growth," he added.In 2023, Kazakhstan's GDP expanded by 5.1%.
