Tazhen border crossing between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan closes for three months for reconstructionThe Tazhen border crossing point on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border will be closed for three months starting from February 1, 2025, for reconstruction, the press service of the Mangistau regional department of state revenues reported."The closure, agreed upon with Uzbekistan, will suspend the movement of individuals and vehicles, including passenger cars, buses, and freight vehicles with a load capacity below 3.5 tonnes, to allow for major repairs of the terminal and the overall modernization of the checkpoint," according to the statement.During the closure, crossings will be redirected to alternative points, including Konyspayev (Kazakhstan) - Yallama (Uzbekistan), Kaplanbek (Kazakhstan) - Zangiota (Uzbekistan), Syrdarya (Kazakhstan) - Malik (Uzbekistan), and Tselinny (Kazakhstan) - Ok Oltin (Uzbekistan).Additionally, due to the proximity of the Tazhen checkpoint to the Beineu railway station, passengers may cross the border using international passenger trains.
