Ukraine continues to build new facilities and develop distributed generation, thus meeting local needs and creating a system less vulnerable to attacks. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 24 January. He noted that in 2024, 233 generating units with an installed capacity of over 830 MW had been connected. Most of them are gas-fired generation, namely gas turbine, gas piston and cogeneration units. This year the Ministry of Energy and other responsible agencies are tasked with commissioning almost 900 MW of distributed generation facilities.The Prime Minister also noted that repairs and reconstruction of the Ukrainian energy sector were ongoing: "In total, about 4 GW of thermal and hydropower capacity was restored in 2024.
