THE DREAM OF HIGH ECONOMY GROWTH

The year 2025 marks the beginning of Prabowo Subianto's opportunity to prove the achievements of his ambitious targets. For instance, he set an 8% annual economic growth target, a figure not achieved in decades. Therefore, at the start of the Year of the Wood Snake, Prabowo's administration adopted a "pro-growth" stance. This approach included delaying the increase in value-added tax (VAT) for non-luxury goods from 11% to 12%. In the food sector, several policies aim to accelerate self-sufficiency, increase productivity, and amplify its economic impact. One involves the Ministry of Agriculture mandating the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to purchase farmers' unhusked rice at Rp.6500 (US$0.39) per kilogram. Another policy in the food sector involves halting imports of rice, corn, consumption sugar, and consumption salt. One strategy involves land optimization and creating 500,000 hectares of new fields in South Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan. Prabowo has also introduced a national economic resilience strategy through downstreaming. There are 28 commodities that must be processed domestically including biofuel, bauxite, copper, gold-silver, petroleum, metals, natural gas, coconut, rubber, shrimp, fish, seaweed, cocoa, nutmeg, and crab. Through downstreaming strategies, the government aims to attract significant investment that will also drive economic growth. Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani stated that the investment target is US$120billion. The focus is on downstreaming projects and renewable energy.Source : https://magz.tempo.co/read/economy/42697/8-percent-economic-growth (ICE GIACARTA)
