SAUDI FIRM WINS KAEC $44M COLD STORE PROJECT DEAL
Jeddah-based Saudi Amana, a local affiliate of UAE-based Amana Contracting, has won a $44m construction contract to build a cold storage facility at King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The contract was awarded in Q4 2024. The contract was awarded by Swiss ports operator Medlog and Saudi Arabia's Ports Development Company. The mobilisation works are ongoing for the facility, which will cover an area of about 60,000 square metres. King Abdullah Port is the region's first fully privately owned, developed and operated port. The port is operated by Ports Development Company, which is a joint venture of local firms Emaar the Economic City and Huta Marine Works. The port is located approximately 120 kilometres north of Jeddah on the kingdom's Red Sea coast. The cold storage facility project award is another major win for Saudi Amana. In September last year,Saudi Arabian gigaproject developer Red Sea Global had awarded an estimated $98m construction deal to the firm. Under the terms of the contract, Saudi Amana will construct the Linear Studios and Management Residences Buildings located within the central residential zone of Turtle Bay Village in the Red Sea Development on the western coast of Saudi Arabia. In June last year, US firm Amazon also awarded a contract to build a fulfilment centre in Jeddah to Saudi Amana. The facility will be constructed at Jeddah Islamic Port. In March, Saudi Amana was selected to construct Taqa Industrial Park in King Salman Energy Park (Spark) by Saudi oil and gas service provider Taqa (Industrialisation & Energy Services Company). The facility will have a built-up area of 45,500 square metres. (ICE RIYADH)
