Kazakhstan looking to start talks with Tengizchevroil on possibly increasing stake in projectKazakhstan plans to begin talks with the Tengizchevroil (TCO) consortium, which operates the Tengiz field development, on possibly increasing the country's stake in the project, Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev said at a briefing."Tengizchevroil is the most relevant for us, namely the Tengiz field, as based on the timeframes for field development, the consortium's timeframes, whose partners are Chevron, ExxonMobil (SPB: XOM), and Lukoil (MOEX: LKOH). Thus, we are planning to start specific preliminary consultations with them, and when ready, to start negotiations," Satkaliyev said regarding in which consortiums the country intends to increase its share as part of the discussion on extending PSA contracts."The government will set an agenda, and set a list of its demands. Increasing Kazakhstan's stake is one of the possible demands, and the demand will be stated," he said. (ICE ALMATY)
