Oil output at Tengiz field rose to 870,000 barrels per day in Jan – Energy Ministry(para 3 corrected)Daily oil production at the Tengiz field in January of this year increased to 870,000 barrels, the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy said in a Wednesday press release."In January, daily oil output by Tengizchevroil (TCO) grew to make 870,000 barrels," the press release says.This is an increase of 45% compared with the average daily production in 2024, according to the press release.On January 24, 2025 Tengizchevroil LLP, the operator of Kazakhstan's massive Tengiz oil field, announced the start of oil production as part of its Future Growth Project (FGP), which is expected to expand Tengiz's crude oil output by an additional 12 million tonnes per annum.Tengiz, one of Kazakhstan's largest oil and gas fields, has oil reserves of 3.1 billion tonnes and is located in the Atyrau region. In the first half of 2024, the field produced 14.4 million tonnes of oil (114.6 million barrels), a 3.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.The Tengiz field is operated by Tengizchevroil LLP, with stakeholders including Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. (25%), Kazakhstan through KazMunayGas (20%), and Lukoil (5%). (ICE ALMATY)
