Construction of Kalkaman metro station in Almaty delayed due to financing problems – BAZIS ConstructionASTANA. Feb 14 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - The construction of the Kalkaman metro station in Almaty is being delayed due to disruptions in financing from the government budget, BAZIS Construction has said in an open letter, which is addressed to Yerlan Sairov, a member of the Majilis, the lower chamber of the parliament.BAZIS Construction is the contractor of the project for construction of the Kalkaman metro station in Almaty. The service contract was concluded in 2020 with Metro Enterprise.According to the contract the construction works are to be completed in 33 months.The project is financed from the government budget, but the government has been failing to provide funds in due time as required by the company’s construction schedule. “According to the conclusion of the state expertise service, the financing of the project was to have been completed within 33 months. In fact, it has been 54 months since the contract was concluded but the company has only received 21% of the total value of the contract,” the letter reads.To finance the project, the government allocated 190.2 million tenge in 2020, 600 million tenge in 2021, no money was allocated in 2022, 9.2 billion tenge was provided 2023 and 2.67 billion tenge in 2024, BAZIS Construction said. The company has no information about money allocation in 2025-2026.At the current rate of financing, the construction works may be delayed indefinitely, BAZIS Construction added. (ICE ALMATY)
