NEOM ANNOUNCES NEW HIDDEN MARINA AS FIRST PHASE OF THE LINE
NEOM has announced plans to unveil the first phase of THE LINE, with the Hidden Marina development leading the initiative, its Chief Development Officer Denis Hickey revealed during his address at the PIF Private Sector Forum in Riyadh. According to a report by the Saudi Gazette, the Hidden Marina will extend 2.5 kilometres and reach 500 metres in height, consisting of three connected modules designed to house more than 200,000 residents. The development will include 21 million square metres of built-up area, surpassing the Burj Khalifa’s 350,000 square metres in Dubai, the report said, citing Hickey. Hidden Marina: NEOM’s 500-metre high vertical city takes shape “The project, a bold step in redefining urban living, will introduce a fully integrated, vertical city built in modular 800-metre sections,” Hickey said. The development will incorporate 80,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, retail spaces, and essential services including fire stations, schools, and police facilities. According to Hickey, more than 140,000 workers from 100 countries are involved in the construction, with 40 percent comprising Saudi talent. The project has received $140 billion in infrastructure investment for energy, water, transport, and communications systems. “We have already deployed significant resources to lay the groundwork for this ambitious urban revolution,” Hickey added. NEOM’s investment structure operates through two vehicles: the NEOM Investment Fund for sectoral investments and the NEOM Investment Office for real estate partnerships, he revealed. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company is constructing what it claims will be the world’s largest green hydrogen manufacturing plant in partnership with ACWA Power at the Oxagon industrial area. The project has further established partnerships with DSV for logistics network development and Samsung for automated rebar production. A recent $5 billion MoU with Data Vault will also create an AI-powered green energy data storage facility at Oxagon.
