Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan are top three tourist-source countries for Tajikistan in 2024 In 2024, Tajikistan welcomed 1.6 million foreign visitors, with 1.4 million arriving as tourists, marking a 16.7% increase compared to 2023.The majority of visitors came from CIS countries, accounting for 91.6% of total arrivals. Uzbekistan led the list with 897,300 visitors, followed by Russia (334,500) and Kazakhstan (34,600).According to the Committee, 1.47 million people entered Tajikistan from CIS countries, of which 1.29 million were tourists. Meanwhile, 134,000 visitors from non-CIS countries made up 8.5% of the total, with 114,800 of them being tourists."Over the past year, Tajikistan was visited by 897,300 citizens from Uzbekistan, 334,500 from Russia, 34,600 from Kazakhstan, 20,500 from China, 11,300 from Afghanistan, 10,700 from the United States, 7,000 from Iran, and 6,500 from Turkey," the statement noted.The country’s tourism infrastructure saw significant growth, with 200 tourism companies operating nationwide, including 35 in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, 94 in Dushanbe, and 42 in the Sughd Region. Accommodation options also expanded, with 214 hotels, 46 hostels and motels, 54 sanatoriums, and various recreational facilities available to visitors. (ICE ALMATY)
