IRAQ EXPANDS SUBSIDISED SHOPPING CENTERS
Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani inaugurated the Taawon Hypermarket shopping center in Al-Bayaa, Baghdad, on Wednesday, offering food and goods at subsidised prices.Through a televised conference, he also launched five additional shopping centers in Al-Hurriya, Al-Salihiya, Al-Shaab, Palestine Street, and Jamila, alongside construction work for 23 similar projects in Baghdad and other provinces.During his visit, Al-Sudani emphasised social security coverage for private-sector employees and praised efforts to boost local production. He stressed the Ministry of Trade's plan to open 150 shopping centers nationwide, ensuring discounts for social protection beneficiaries on essential goods.The Prime Minister outlined the project's goal of stabilizing food prices amid global economic challenges, noting the government's intervention in regulating costs and securing essential supplies.
