KAZAKHSTAN-PM-TAXPAYERS-WARNING

Kazakhstan PM gives business two weeks to pay"fair taxes " or face actionKazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has urged business owners and company executives to adjust their tax declarations and pay "fair amounts of tax" within two weeks. The warning came during a government meeting on fiscal reforms and tax revenue control.Bektenov highlighted cases of businesses exploiting special tax regimes intended to support small businesses, with some large companies, including major construction firms like BI Group and BAZIS, paying minimal taxes despite high revenues."Today or tomorrow, your companies will receive notifications from tax authorities regarding the payment of additional taxes. I urge everyone to submit updated tax declarations and pay their fair share of taxes within the next two weeks,” he said.Bektenov warned that failure to comply would result in the state using all available resources, including fiscal and law enforcement measures, to ensure compliance.“The conversation will be tough, but we are ready for dialogue if businesses are prepared to act fairly toward the state," he added. The Finance Ministry also proposed measures to combat business fragmentation and improve tax administration, including legislative criteria for identifying business splitting and enhanced control mechanisms.
