Inflation in Kazakhstan at 1.5% in Feb, annual inflation at 9.4%Inflation in Kazakhstan came in at 1.5% in February 2025 compared with 1.1% in January 2025, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said.The annual inflation (February 2025 to February 2024) amounted to 9.4%.In February 2025, the prices for food products increased by 6.5% compared with the same month of 2024, the prices for non-food items grew by 8.7% and for services by 14.1%.In the reporting month, the tariffs on drinking water supply jumped by 70.7% year over year, electricity by 21%, central heating by 18.2%, water disposal services by 17.3%, hot water supply by 14.5%, domestic gas supply by 13.2% and garbage removal services by 11.1%.Housing rental grew by 16.5%, all-inclusive recreation services by 34%, communications by 14.3%, hairdressing and personal services by 12.3%, health care by 11.8%, catering by 10.8%, vehicle maintenance and repair by 10.5%, and recreation and sports events by 9.8%.Rail fares rose by 20%, air fares by 12.5% and municipal bus by 10.5%.Prices for audiovisual equipment increased by 42.3%, jewelry and watches by 24.4%, new locally assembled cars by 18.9%, clothing and footwear by 10.9%, furniture and household items by 10.5%.Liquefied gas in cylinders rose 20.5% in price, firewood by 14.8%.Prices rose for potato by 62.1%, onion by 27.3%, cabbage by 20.2%, mineral and drinking water by 17%, confectionery by 14.2%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 13%, nonalcoholic beverages by 12.6%, processed and canned fish by 12.5%, butter by 12.2%, fruit and vegetable juices by 10.6%.Prices fell for buckwheat by 20.4%, carrots by 6.6%, rice by 5.7% and eggs by 5.3%.On a regional basis, inflation was above the national average in eight regions, notably the city of Astana (12.7%), Akmola (10.7%) and West Kazakhstan (10.5%) regions.It is the National Bank’s target to stabilize the inflation at around 5% in the midterm.
