INDONESIAN CERAMIC SECTOR EMBARKS ON EXPANSION FOLLOWING THE EXTENSION OF HGBT

The Indonesian government has issued Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) of ESDM Number 76K/2025 concerning the Extension of Certain Natural Gas Prices (HGBT) for seven industrial sectors and is valid for the next 5 years. Responding to this, the Association of Indonesian Ceramic Industries (Asaki) greatly appreciates the government's policy, which is very much needed to maintain and increase the competitiveness of the national ceramic industry. In addition, this policy is also able to provide business certainty and a good investment climate, while also attracting new investment. It was stated that the extension of HGBT for the national ceramic industry is a game changer that has been proven during 2020-2024 to successfully encourage increased competitiveness and resilience of the national ceramic industry where during that period the ceramic industry entered an expansion zone. "There has been an additional new production capacity of ceramic tiles of around 90 million m2 and investment in two sanitary/toilet factories from foreign investment (PMA) with a total of around IDR 20 trillion to IDR 23 trillion with the absorption of around 15,000 new workers," said Asaki General Chairman, Edy Suyanto in Jakarta (3/3/2025). Asaki believes that the national ceramic industry can be a good host in its own country and achieve ceramic self-sufficiency in mid-2026, where the total new capacity expansion of 120 million m2 starting from 2020-2026 will increase the installed ceramic capacity to 670 million m2.Source: https://finance.detik.com/industri/d-7804997/industri-keramik-mulai-ekspansi-usai-hgbt-dilanjutkan  (ICE GIACARTA)
