PH MANUFACTURING SLOWS ANEW

SLOWER output and new orders growth weighed on the country's manufacturing sector in February, S&P Global said on Monday, with the purchasing managers' index (PMI) slipping for a second straight month. The PMI of 51.0 was still above the 50.0 threshold demarcating an expansion from a contraction, but was lower than January's 52.3, which in turn had fallen from December 2024's 32-month high of 54.3. "The latest uptick signaled only a modest improvement in the health of the Filipino manufacturing sector, and one which was also the least marked in nearly a year," S&P said. Demand remained positive, but growth in new orders moderated for the second month in a row. The increase in factory orders was the slowest in seven months and new export orders also expanded at a weaker pace. Output growth consequently softened to its slowest since July 2024. https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/03/04/business/sunday-business-it/ph-manufacturing-slows-anew/2066186 (ICE SINGAPORE)
