IRAN’S FOOD EXPORTS TO GERMANY SURGE BY 23% IN 2024
In 2023, the trade volume stood at €1.45 billion. This year, Germany’s exports to Iran increased by 6%, totaling €1.28 billion, while Iran’s exports to Germany saw an 8% decline, amounting to €226 million.A closer look at December 2024 figures reveals that bilateral trade reached €134 million, marking a modest 1% increase compared to December 2023. Germany’s exports for the month rose by 6% to €116 million, whereas Iran’s exports dropped sharply by 26%, totaling €17 million.According to the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC), Germany’s top exports to Iran in 2024 were vehicles and industrial machinery (SITC-7), valued at €520 million, followed by chemicals and related materials (SITC-5) at €440 million. Imports of these categories to Iran grew by 1% and 14%, respectively. However, Germany’s food exports to Iran declined by 14%.On the other hand, Iran’s leading export to Germany in 2024 was food and live animals (SITC-0), valued at €107 million, reflecting a significant 23% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, Iran’s exports of inedible raw materials (excluding fuels, SITC-2) fell by 25%, reaching €60 million.The data highlights a mixed but recovering trade relationship between the two countries, with Iran’s food exports showing strong growth despite an overall decline in its exports to Germany.
