BNI AND SMI SEAL RP550 BILLION DEAL TO BOOST INFRASTRUCTURE FINANCING

State-owned bank PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) signed a strategic cooperation with the state-owned infrastructure financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) through a repurchase agreement (Repo) transaction worth Rp550 billion (US$33.6 million) on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. This collaboration aims to strengthen the liquidity of corporate customers while supporting the financing of strategic infrastructure projects in Indonesia. Established in 2009, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) is an Indonesian state-owned enterprise focused on infrastructure financing. By the end of 2020, the company had financed 289 projects with a total value of Rp699.18 trillion. Through this transaction, BNI provides funds to SMI with collateral in the form of securities so that SMI can obtain short-term funding more efficiently. The collaboration between BNI and SMI is a commitment to continue strengthening cooperation and developing various other innovative financing initiatives.
