ROSHN GROUP STRENGTHENS ITS SUPPORT FOR SAUDI ARABIA’S CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
The kingdom’s largest multi-asset developer ramped up its support for Saudi Arabia’s construction industry during February, with a spate of announcements and engagements that highlight both how the giga-project is investing locally and how it is looking to accelerate project execution. The largest announcements were made during the PIF Private Sector Forum, where ROSHN executives signed contracts worth approximately 1.5 bn Saudi Riyals with four contractors – SARH ATTQNIA, Building Construction Company, Development Works, and the local company of China Harbour Engineering Company – to build several thousand homes and a retail mall in SEDRA, ROSHN’s largest integrated community project in Riyadh. Additionally, ROSHN Group formalized framework agreements with leading Saudi contractors, including Abdulali Al-Ajmi Co., Abdulmohsen Altamimi Contracting Company, Al Enjaz, Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies, Al Rawaf Contracting, Bin Omairah, Mofarreh AlHarbi, and SEPC. The third major announcement to come out of the event was ROSHN Group’s partnership with the Aluminium Products Company (ALUPCO) build a state-of-the-art, fully automated aluminium windows and doors manufacturing facility in the capital. Under the agreement, ALUPCO will supply ROSHN with aluminium doors, windows, and curtain walls for ROSHN Group’s developments across Saudi Arabia through long-term supply commitments. The factory itself is expected to cost over one billion Saudi Riyals, generating hundreds of jobs and will help position the country as an exporter of aluminium-related products to the rest of the GCC and the wider Middle East. ROSHN Group’s contractor, China Harbour Engineering Company, launched its modular pre-cast concrete facility in SEDRA which will produce up to 400,000 cubic meters of prefabricated concrete panels for use in building the tens of thousands of homes planned for both SEDRA and WAREFA, ROSHN Group’s other community project in Riyadh. Covering 200,000 square meters, the factory is one of the largest of its type in the region and will employ 1,200 workers once it is operating to capacity. The pre-cast factory features state-of-the-art technologies, with an independently developed production management system and robotics. The facility is fully digitalized end-to-end, from design and production to the storage of precast concrete materials. Given the factory is onsite, it will also help reduce carbon emissions and lower the environmental impact. Speaking during the launch, Iain McBride, Executive Director Commercial, ROSHN Group, said, “The launch of CHEC’s pre-cast concrete facility in SEDRA marks a significant step in strengthening our sustainable supply chain, supporting both our projects and developments in the area. This facility reflects our commitment to advancing local content and fostering the transfer of technical expertise within the kingdom.” The Group also announced the launch of sales at ALMANAR, its first community project in Makkah, as well as a new release of homes at SEDRA. Both saw record sales in their first week. With a vision to both introduce concepts such as community living throughout the kingdom as well as grow the country’s construction industry, ROSHN’s McBride summed up the Group’s aims moving forward.
