INDONESIAN GOVT TO EASE REGULATIONS TO SUPPORT FURNITURE INDUSTRY
Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, has informed that the Indonesian Government will ease regulations to support the growth of the furniture industry, boost its competitiveness, and expand the industry's global reach. He said that regulatory ease is one of the government's main measures to support the furniture industry in facing global challenges. During the opening of the 2025 Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) in Jakarta on Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Deputy Minister emphasized that regulatory support is key for boosting the strength and growth of the furniture and craft industries in Indonesia. According to him, even though the global economic situation is currently not favorable, Indonesia's non-oil and gas manufacturing industry sector is continuing to grow and remain strong, and even experiencing significant growth. The contribution of the manufacturing industry sector to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024 is estimated at 17.16 percent, with growth of around 4.7 percent compared to the previous year. The number of workers in the manufacturing industry has also increased to reach around 19.96 million, reflecting the positive developments in the sector. General chairperson of the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Association (HIMKI), Abdul Sobur, said that the furniture and craft industries are highly strategic, unlike mining, where resources will run out at some point. He highlighted that Indonesia's furniture export potential still has room for growth.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/347409/ri-govt-to-ease-regulations-to-support-furniture-industry (ICE GIACARTA)
