Kazakhstan to invest 137 billion tenge in Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort by 2029Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has approved a comprehensive development plan for the Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort zone for 2025–2029, according to the government’s press service."The plan, with a budget of 137.2 billion tenge, includes 118 initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure, transport logistics, digital solutions, security, and investment," the statement said.The modernization of the resort will focus on creating year-round tourist facilities, promoting eco-friendly and sports tourism, and building new recreational areas. For instance, Lake Katarkol will feature children’s centers, sports and wellness complexes, and a year-round aquapark. Near Lake Zhukey, new camping sites, glamping facilities, and tourist routes will be developed, while Maloye Chebachye will see rental stations, boat docks, shoreline infrastructure, and beaches.To ensure convenient access to the resort zone, transport infrastructure will be upgraded, including multi-level parking lots with visitor centers and dining facilities."The plan is expected to increase tourist numbers from 35,000 to 94,000, create 10,000 new jobs, and attract 22.7 billion tenge in private investments. The tourism sector’s share in the regional economy is set to rise from 1.4% to 3.5%," the statement added. (ICE ALMATY)
