KAZAKHSTAN-INFLATION-FORECAST

Kazakhstan’s inflation expected to reach 10% by end of 2025 - Economy MinistryKazakhstan’s inflation is projected to reach 10% by the end of 2025, according to Duty Minister of National Economy Arman Kasenov.Speaking at a government briefing,  Kasenov noted that while inflation remains a challenge, the country has seen a downward trend."Indeed, inflation persists, but the trend is negative. Last year, inflation stood at 8.6%, and the year before that, it was around 10%," Kasenov stated. He emphasized that inflation is a global phenomenon and is significantly influenced by the growth rate of consumer lending, which has been outpacing nominal GDP growth, thereby driving additional demand," he said.Kasenov highlighted that both the National Bank and the government are implementing anti-inflationary measures, with over 100 initiatives in place. "The successful implementation of these measures has helped reduce inflation. By the end of the year, we expect inflation to stabilize around 10%," he explained.Earlier this year, Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin warned that inflation could rise to between 12% and 14% by late 2025 or early 2026. However, recent data indicates a more moderate increase. In February 2025, annual inflation reached 9.4%, up slightly from 8.9% in January. (ICE ALMATY)
