EMPLOYERS FACE A DAUNTING TASK
The latest statistics suggest that employers look for new hires at labour offices less and less often as the number of jobseekers registered with such agencies is already so low that it is difficult to find candidates with the requires skillset among them. In more detail, the statistics compiled by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) indicate that in January 2025 there were ca. 838,000 unemployed people in Poland while Eurostat statistics point to 464,000. According to experts, the number of unemployed persons whom employers can think of as potential candidates is closer to 500,000 rather than to 800,000 while some of these 500,000 have been unemployed for more than a year, which often means that their qualifications or other characteristics, including the place of residence, are incompatible with employers’ needs.
