Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Italy rose 25% in 2024Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Italy reached almost $20 billion in 2024, which is an increase of 24% compared with the previous year, the press service of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in a Sunday press release following Tokayev’s meeting with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella who had arrived in Astana on a visit."Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Italy is Kazakhstan’s third largest trading partners and among the top 5 largest investors in the republic’s economy. Last year, mutual trade turnover amounted to about $20 billion [compared with $16.1 billion in 2023]. About 250 Italian companies operating in Kazakhstan make a significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry, renewable energy, mechanical engineering and agriculture," the press release says.Italian President Sergio Mattarella highly commended the existing bilateral relations and noted a significant potential for expanding the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Italy.During the meeting, the presidents discussed prospects for development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, and exchanged views on global subjects.Mattarella arrived in Astana on Sunday, March 9.
