ENERGA TO BURN MORE BIOMASS
Energa Group, one of four largest energy companies in Poland, has announced that it will be burning increasing amounts of biomass, adding that the modernisation of one of the coal-fired boilers at the Ostrołęka B Power Plant serves this particular purpose. In more detail, once modernisation has been completed, the boiler in question will have capacity to co-fire biomass up to 50 percent, compared with 30 percent at present, with emissions below 550 g of CO2 per kWh. Addressing the issue, Energa’s press office has said that in the near future Energa does not rule out further investments in its power generation assets with a view to adapting the existing coal-fired units to burning or co-firing of biomass.
