On March 13, 2025, Sugiono, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Indonesia, met with Niclas Kvarnstrom, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta. Both parties underscored the importance of multilateralism and the supremacy of international law for global stability and certainty. The EU acknowledged Indonesia's role as a democratic partner committed to multilateralism and a rule-based order, highlighting Indonesia's consistent adherence to international law in various global forums, including the United Nations. Additionally, the discussions covered potential cooperation in sustainable energy, food security, and environmental management. The EU expressed its readiness to support Indonesia's green development policies, including energy transition and improved environmental governance.
