INDONESIA NEED ADDITIONAL 2 MLN TONS METHANOL TO MAKE B50
Indonesia is aiming to implement the B50 biodiesel program by 2026, which requires around 2.3 million tons of methanol per year. However, domestic production is only about 300 thousand tons, necessitating the import of 2 million tons. To address this, the government is pushing the bioethanol national strategic project in Bojonegoro. To produce the required biodiesel, significant amounts of palm oil and additional land are needed. For B50, 17.9 million tons of palm oil and 2.3 million hectares of land are required. For B60, 21.5 million tons of palm oil and 3.5 million hectares of land are needed, while B100 requires 35.9 million tons of palm oil and 4.6 million hectares of land. The government is considering utilizing community and cooperative-owned land to meet these needs. The government has prepared incentives worth approximately IDR47.1 trillion (around US$2.88 billion) to support the implementation of B50-B100 biodiesel programs. Currently, Indonesia's palm oil needs are around 14.3 million tons. The B40 biodiesel program was recently started on January 1, 2025.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/348545/need-additional-2-mln-tons-methanol-to-make-b50-govt?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
