MOPW IN TALKS WITH QATAR FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), efforts are ongoing to expand bilateral cooperation with Qatar, particularly through joint projects in ports, airports and transportation, given their vital role in strengthening Lebanon’s economy and fostering sustainable development. In parallel, according to a statement by the Lebanese Minister of Public Works, ensuring security at the Beirut International Airport is a major priority, with strict measures implemented to enhance safety standards at thiscritical facility. The Minister also stressed that rebuilding infrastructure damaged by the war remains one of the ministry’s foremost priorities, with a focus on repairing roads, border crossings and key facilities. Furthermore, the ministry was currently conducting technical and economic feasibility studies to relaunch Qlayaat Airport in northern Lebanon, aiming to boost air transport and ensure balanced economic development across the country. The Minister also affirmed that revitalizing Lebanon’s public transportation sector was central to the ministry’s vision, emphasizing the need to upgrade public transport infrastructure to alleviate economic burdens on citizens and promote sustainability.
